One of my all time favorite yoga poses is Camatkarasana or Wild Thing pose. I incorporate this asana into my routine whenever I need a mental or physical boost. It is a great opener for the chest, throat, shoulders, hip flexors, and the front of the legs. It builds strength in the arms, shoulders, and upper back, as well as, helping to alleviate fatigue or depression. I love this pose for all of those reasons plus I feel strong and powerful in it! Play around with it and have fun!
1. Start in downward facing dog. 2. Shift your weight forward to come into plank pose with your wrists directly under your shoulders. 3. Bring your feet and legs together, move your right hand to the center of your mat, and roll over onto the outer edge of your right foot to come into side plank. Lift your left arm straight toward the ceiling. 4. Step your left foot back behind you with the left knee bent and place the ball of the left foot on the ground. 5. Soften your shoulders, curl into a backbend, open your chest, and root down through your feet and right arm. 6. Relax and breathe deeply.
